Tutorials....I've only used them when I need help with the program, but for actually coloring and shading etc, I've never used one
School.....My school would never teach anything like this LOL;;
I guess what I do is practice, practice, practice. You may not notice the improvement yourself, but it really does happen. Try to make something a little better every time you draw something new. Accept critiques, they really help. Try to get inspiration from the things you see around you.
That's usually what I do. Try to draw everyday, keep a sketchbook, and when you go through it, I'm sure you'll see yourself improve ^^
